The Mammoth Task of a Capital Fund Raising Campaign
The task of a capital fund raising campaign is a huge one
and would often require some outside help. This person would be kept very busy
liaising with various committees and companies in order to get things done.
What Is Involved in a Capital Fund Raising Campaign?
Say, for example, a new building is required for a school.
Although essential this is a huge task for the educational system to find the
money to support it. Therefore they would have to rely on the generosity of
those parents and local companies for support. Someone would have to be
available to approach businesses and ask for donations and in something like a
building, materials would not come cheap. When they would put this out to
tender, the builders would have to take into consideration whether it would be
financially viable for them and if they would be able to support any losses.
The people involved in a capital fund raising campaign would
also have to take this into consideration. They may not be able to find any
sources of donations that would actually see the completion of the project.
Therefore they need to find other ways of raising the rest of the money to see
the project through to completion. The capital fund raising campaign is not one
that lasts a day or a week or even a month. This type of fund raising will be
slow and there has to be enough encouragement and answers to appeals to make
sure that it does not fall through. It also requires a lot of planning, not
only for the fund itself but for the other costs that may be involved in this
huge undertaking.
As this is such a big task you would have to do a lot of
convincing that you have the means to carry it out; therefore research is
vital. You need to look at all the costs that your capital fund raising
campaign would entail and decide upon a realistic time frame within which to
work. You also need to consider where your money is coming from. In these cases
most of your donations will be made up from several large donations and a few
smaller ones to make up the ‘loose change’ so to speak.
Do your research into the companies that you are approaching
for the larger donations and take the time to present them with a well
researched proposal. You are more likely to succeed if they can see that you
have taken the time and effort to properly look into everything. Think of all
the questions these executives may ask you and come up with several well
thought out answers to each of them. In essence, be prepared!
